Benefits for Your Organization

A Realistic Assessment of Your Resilience

A penetration test doesn’t reveal theoretical risks, but rather real attack scenarios—exactly as hackers would carry them out. You’ll discover which combinations of vulnerabilities, errors, and human mistakes grant access to sensitive information. Fully tailored to your infrastructure, systems, and risks.

From Insight to Demonstrable Improvement

We conduct every penetration test in accordance with the CCV 2.0 or MIAUW guidelines. You benefit from a structured, auditable process that complies with both legislation and best practices. Thanks to our clear and well-documented reports, you’ll know exactly what steps are needed to improve your security in a targeted and verifiable way.

Compliance with Regulatory Requirements

Laws and regulations such as NIS2, DORA, and BIO set requirements for testing your security measures. A penetration test not only demonstrates compliance but also strengthens the confidence of customers and partners in your digital resilience.

Why the CCV2.0 Certification Matters

Choose peace of mind with a CCV2.0 or MIAUW penetration test

Not every penetration test offers the same level of assurance. And not every provider delivers the quality required by organizations with high security and compliance standards. OneXillium is one of the first companies in the Netherlands to be CCV 2.0-certified for penetration testing.

This certification, based on international ISO standards, sets clear requirements for the execution, expertise, and reporting of penetration tests. This creates a structured and verifiable approach that complies with laws and regulations. As a result, it not only provides insight into vulnerabilities but also establishes a solid foundation for audits, certifications, and demonstrable improvements in digital resilience.

For government organizations

The MIAUW Standard

This standard, developed by and for the government, aligns with the growing requirements set forth in laws and regulations, such as NIS2 and the Cybersecurity Act, and establishes clear requirements regarding scope, implementation, reporting, and evidence.

OneXillium is one of the first organizations to implement this standard and apply it to public and regulated environments. MIAUW not only provides insight into vulnerabilities but also generates a transparent and well-documented report that directly guides prioritization and leads to demonstrable improvements in digital resilience.

Ethical Hacking to Make Your Organization More Secure

What is a penetration test, and why is it important?

A pentest, or penetration test, is a controlled attack on your own systems. Our ethical hackers deliberately attempt to gain access through vulnerabilities in software, network access, or configurations. This helps you identify where you’re at risk and allows you to take targeted action to strengthen your resilience.

Depending on your organization and risks

What types of penetration tests are there?

Not every organization faces the same risks. That’s why, at OneXillium, you can choose a penetration test that’s tailored to your infrastructure:

Black-Box, Gray-Box, and White-Box Testing

Methodologies Explained

Black Box (realistic scenario)
Our ethical hackers start with no prior knowledge. This gives you surprising and realistic insights into your security.

Greybox (partial knowledge)
You share limited information, such as a login or system name. Ideal for testing processes, access control, and segmentation.

Whitebox (full transparency)
With this approach, we gain full access to your architecture, code, and configurations. Perfect for in-depth audits and ISO or DORA compliance.

Why the CCV Seal of Approval Matters

Choose peace of mind with a CCV-certified penetration test

Not all penetration tests are the same. And not every provider delivers quality. OneXillium is one of the few companies in the Netherlands that is CCV 2.0-certified for penetration testing. This certification, based on international ISO standards, guarantees that your penetration test will be conducted professionally, thoroughly, and reliably.

Frequently Asked Questions About Penetration Testing

Our specialists have compiled a list of frequently asked questions for you. If your question isn't listed here, please contact us.

When conducting penetration tests, CCV focuses primarily on ensuring the quality of the execution and the expertise of the penetration tester. MIAUW places additional emphasis on transparency, supporting evidence, and the reproducibility of the testing.

No. Although MIAUW was developed for the government, the standard is also being used more and more frequently outside the public sector. Organizations that work with sensitive data or are subject to strict compliance requirements are increasingly opting for MIAUW penetration tests. Examples include organizations in finance, healthcare, manufacturing, and other regulated sectors where demonstrability and auditability are important.

MIAUW stands for Methodology for Information Security Research with Audit Value. It is a standard for penetration testing specifically developed for the government. MIAUW focuses on transparency, reproducibility, and demonstrable quality in security research. This makes it clear not only which vulnerabilities were found, but also how the penetration test was conducted and on what evidence it was based.

A penetration test:

  • Identifies vulnerabilities before attackers do.
  • Supports your risk management and demonstrates that you are taking proactive measures.
  • Strengthens your incident response plan because you know where the vulnerabilities are.
  • Contributes to the audit trail and reporting, which are essential for NIS2 compliance.

In short: Penetration testing is not a legal requirement on paper, but it is a practical way to comply with the NIS2 requirements for security and risk management.

The NIS2 Directive does not specify a fixed frequency. The standard is: regular and risk-based. This means:

  • In the event of major changes to systems or infrastructure.
  • Periodically, for example, annually or semiannually, depending on your risk profile.
  • After incidents or when there are signs of new threats

By developing a test plan that aligns with your risk assessment, you will comply with the NIS2 requirement for continuous improvement.

NIS2 does not impose an explicit obligation to conduct penetration tests. However, the directive does require organizations to take appropriate technical and organizational measures to manage cyber risks. A penetration test is a proven method for detecting and addressing vulnerabilities in systems. By conducting one, you demonstrate that you are actively working to mitigate risks. This is, in fact, a core requirement of NIS2.

Our ethical hackers are OSCP, OSWE, OSEP, eWPT, CRTO, eJPT, CRTP, and OSCE
certified. In addition, our organization holds official CCV certification.

This is how we ensure that our penetration tests are conducted at the highest possible level of quality.

Penetration testing can be viewed as ethical hacking, sometimes also referred to as white-hat hacking. The goal is to methodically test the security of your IT infrastructure. A penetration test is conducted by a specialized firm within a predefined scope (what is the purpose of the pen test, what is the scope of the project) at a specific time. The penetration test involves an active and passive analysis of IT infrastructures and applications. Occasionally, human factors are also put to the test through social engineering. Penetration tests are now a fundamental part of any risk management strategy. The primary goal of penetration testing is to identify weaknesses regarding the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of data. This is followed by recommendations for remediation.

That depends on your industry, risks, and obligations. In many cases, annual testing is recommended. It’s also a good idea to conduct a new test following major changes, such as the implementation of a new application, infrastructure, or a merger.

A CCV penetration test complies with the Dutch cybersecurity certification scheme. OneXillium is certified, so you can be sure that your test will be conducted professionally and reliably.

Black Box: Without Prior Knowledge—Just Like a Real Attacker Would.

Greybox: with limited information—such as a login or user role.

Whitebox: full visibility—ideal for in-depth audits and compliance checks.

In industries such as financial services (DORA) and government (BIO), a penetration test is required by law. But even in other industries, it is a proven measure for effective risk management and ISO certification.

A penetration test takes an average of 3 to 10 business days, depending on the scope. Our ethical hackers work discreetly and coordinate everything with your IT team. This ensures that the impact on your day-to-day operations is minimal, and you can be confident that the test will be conducted securely.

A penetration test (pentest) identifies vulnerabilities in your IT environment before malicious actors discover them. This helps you prevent data breaches, downtime, or damage to your reputation.
